Snake for the terminal, written in Go with Cobra, Bubble Tea, and Lip Gloss. A setup menu picks the board size and speed, and the game supports local two-player matches and an optional speed-boost power-up. It replaces my first terminal Snake game from 2025.
Overview
Snake Deluxe is a Snake game for the terminal, written in Go. Running snake-deluxe opens a setup menu for the board width and height, the speed (1 to 10), two-player mode, and power-ups; snake-deluxe play starts right away with the defaults or with flags.
The game engine (internal/game) is separate from the Bubble Tea interface (internal/tui), so the rules can change without touching the rendering. Cobra handles the commands and flags, and Lip Gloss styles the menu and screens.
It replaces my first terminal Snake game from July 2025, which drew the screen with raw ANSI escape codes. Install it with go install github.com/neilsmahajan/snake-deluxe@latest. MIT licensed.
